Wilmore ---Jimmy Ray Banks (J.R), 63 died Saturday, September 1st 2012. He was born February 19th 1949, in Oskaloosa, Kentucky.
J.R. leaves his cherished family, wife of 36 years, Vera, his sons Jason and Joshua, their wives, Allison and Meghan, and his beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna Rae, Sophia, and Jackson. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons and friends.
J.R. was proud to have served in Vietnam as a combat medic and received several medals including the Purple Heart. He was given a key to the City of Nicholasville, was an honorary Jessamine County Deputy Sheriff, a Special Deputy of the Jessamine County Detention Center, and was inducted into the Jessamine County Youth Sports Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his parents Geneva and Vernon Banks, a sister Antaleen, and his father-in-law Donald Brown.
Survivors include one sister, Aliene Miracle (Robert), and eight brothers, Harold (Georgia), Carlos (Gayle), Verlon (Sue), Ricky, Danny (Vicki), Earl (Robyn), Melvin (Marlene) and Dickie (Nancy). Other survivors include a sister-in-law Penny (Stu) Freedman and mother-in-law Margaret Brown as well as cousins and many nieces and nephews.
