Joe Ed Shannon, 82, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend, peacefully left his earthly home on November 14, 2024. Born in Ardmore, Alabama, to the late Foster and Flossie (Faulkner) Shannon, Joe was one of their three children.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Joe served honorably during the Vietnam War. He later built a successful career with the United States Postal Service, retiring as a District Manager.

Joe found great joy in life through his hobbies and passions, which included coaching Little League Baseball, golfing, fishing, bowling and playing cards with friends and family. Above all, his greatest pleasure came from supporting and watching his grandchildren in their many activities.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Lou (Campbell) Shannon; his daughter Stacey Perkins (Chanceny); his sons Kevin (Michelle) and Brent (Ashley); and his cherished grandchildren Briana Perkins, Austin Perkins, Adyson Perkins, Parker Shannon, Carley Shannon, Connor Shannon, Kyndal Shannon, Kamryn Shannon, and Averey Shannon. He will also be deeply missed by his brother, Dallas Shannon (Jill), and sister-in-law Connie Shannon.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Shannon, who will surely be there to welcome him home.

In honoring Joe's wishes, his family has chosen cremation. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bethel Pointe Clubhouse, 100 Academy Dr., Wilmore, Kentucky. Family reflections will be offered by his son at 4:30 PM.

Joe’s love, wisdom, and unwavering support will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

This obituary was edited and lovingly submitted by the family. All arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral home. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Shannon family and friends.
