Lexington: John R. Begley, 62, of Maple Leaf Dr. and Boca Raton, FL. died Tues., Oct 7. A native of Garrard County he was born Sept. 24, 1946, to the late Matt and Frankie Hamilton Begley. He was a retired employee of Lexington Urban Government where he worked in the fleet service. He was a member of the Central Christian Church and served on The Board of Director of the Palm Royal Condos. John will be remembered as a ‘helper’ because he was always looking out for the neighbors and was always available to lend a hand in any project whether big or small. Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years Betty Stevens Begley, a daughter Jennifer Begley and husband David Flood, Lexington, a son John H. Begley, and wife Ann, Nicholasville, 4 sisters Marie Jones, husband Junior, IN., Lucille Brumagen, Winchester, Judy Brumagen, Athens, Beatrice Eldridge, Winchester, a brother, Ernest Begley, wife Charlene, Lexington, 5 granddaughters, a great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his many friends and especially by his special fishing buddy Katie and his constant companion his loving cat Pretty Boy.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, Oct. 10, at the Paris Cemetery with the Chaplin Stuart Dawson officiating. Immediately following the Service the family will receive friends at an informal gathering at the Baptist Church at Andover, 3330 Todds Rd., Lexington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. The family chose Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home for cremation.
