A limb has fallen from the Goldey family tree. John L. Goldey, 84, widower of Fredia May Goldey since 2015, and Frances “Frankie” Goldey since 1996, joined them in eternal rest on July 9, 2021 while a resident of Thomson Hood Veterans Center. He was a member of Brookside Baptist Church and had a passion for showing Tennessee Walking Horses. He was an excellent rider winning many trophies.  He will be lovingly remembered by his sons David Goldey, wife Stacy, and Timothy L. Goldey and daughter Barbara Bingham, grandchildren Hagan Ray, husband Justin, Ramie Holland, husband Ryan, Paul Fox, and Caleb Peel, great granddaughter Townes Brynne Ray, sister Ruth Goldey, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Carrie Riley, Geneva Schmidt, brothers James Kenneth Goldey, Jean Goldey, Joseph Thomas "T" Goldey, George Goldey, and Frank Goldey.  A Remembrance Service will be held 12:00 Noon on Wednesday July14, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest beside his first wife “Frankie” in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be George Goldey Jr., Tony Schmidt, Larry Goldey, Lawrence Riley, Mike Goldey, and Billy Pat Riley.  Honorary bearers will be Paul, Bill, Gary, Gerard, Johnny, Danny and Jeff Goldey.  John’s family will greet visitors on Tuesday, July 13, at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. “Remember how I was truly blessed, continue traditions, go on with your life. keep your chin up until the day comes we’re together again”. His service will be live-streamed on our Facebook page and our You Tube channel for those who are unable to attend.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the trust given to us by John’s family to care for his arrangements.
