John S. Preston

Nicholasville: John S. Preston, 83, of Chrisman Mill Rd. went to be with the Lord, Sat., Nov. 25, 2006. He was a native of Jessamine County, born Oct. 21, 1923, to the late Arthur and Betty Shearer Preston. He was a member of the Nicholasville United Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a life long farmer who raised prize winning hay. John loved feeding his cattle and had influenced many young people in Jessamine County. He was loved and respected by his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Marie Hager Preston, 4 daughters Judy Brumfield and husband Walter, Johnetta Ogden and husband Willie, Anna Vance and husband Jimmie, and Jackie Riggs and husband Rad, a sister Lillian Gabbard, 9 grandchildren Cynthia Leasor and husband Mark, Karen O’Connell and husband Patrick, Jeffrey Brumfield and wife Deidre, Jon Scott Ogden and wife Lori, Preston Ogden and wife Becky, John Keen and wife Courtney, Michele Adams and companion Mike O’Nan, Christopher Riggs, and Sara E. Riggs, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00 PM Tues., Nov. 28, at HAGER & CUNDIFF FUNERAL HOME, W. Oak St., with Rev. Mike Synder and Rev. Jim Harrison officiating, burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Corman, Sid East, Janice Bingham, Ben Hall, Paul Turner, Howard Downing, George Smith, George Wafford, and John Swaim.
