John D. Rhorer, Jr., 86, died Thurs., Dec. 15, at Ephriam McDowell Hospital. John was a former resident of Thomson Hood Veterans Center and had resided in Nicholasville for many years. He was a member of Jessamine Christian Church, a US Navy veteran, and a native of Wilmore born Feb. 28, 1925, to the late John D. Sr. and Lottie Johns Rhorer. He retired from Central Baptist Hospital where he was responsible for the boiler maintenance. John was a avid bowler and was the proud recipient ot the 299 Ring on March 15, 1996, he had bowled at Jessalin Lanes as well as Eastland and Southland Lanes with his good friend O P Nicholson. Together they won tournaments, bowled on the Sr. League and the Golden Nuggets together for many years. Survivors include his sons Hugh and David Rhorer, their mother Marjorie Rhorer, grandchildren Danielle Rhorer, Brittany Veen, husband James, and Justin Rhorer, a half sister Margaret Opal Kessler, and his former wife Carolyn Rhorer. He was preceded in death by a brother Hugh Rhorer.

A service to commemorate his life will be held 11:00 AM on Mon. Dec 19th at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Entombment with Military Honors will be held at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be Sun. Dec. 18, from 1 to 4 PM at the funeral home.
