Nicholasville: John Henry Tankersley, 90, of Groggins Ferry Road, died Wed. Dec. 19, at Harrodsburg Health Care. A native of Jessamine County he was born July 12, 1917, to the late John Henry and Sally Lamb Tankersley. Henry was a member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church and a retired farmer and carpenter. He was the widower of Lucille Tankersley who died in 2005. Survivors include his children Alvin Tankersley, Betty Soper and husband Jim, Peggy Roe and husband Bobby, and Carol Tankersley, 8 grandchildren Donna Smith and husband Andrew, Debra O’Hair and husband Lowell, Danny Tankersley, James F. Soper and wife Allison, Angela Crook and husband Brett, Henry Henson, Jr., Rebecca Henson, and Derrick Roe, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, 4 brothers, and 2sisters.
Services will be 11:00 AM Sat., Dec. 22, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Azra Byrd, Jackie Wells, John Knox, George Smith, Ben Dye, Clay Tankersley, George Tankersley, Kenny Tankersley, and Joe Webb. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home. The family would like to give thanks to the Harrodsburg Health Care for their love and support during his stay with them.
