Johnny G. Bruner, 69, of Nicholasville, husband of Dora F. Bruner for 48 years, died Tuesday, Feb. 25. A native of Jessamine County he was born Oct. 30, 1944, to Katherine Stipes Bruner and the late Henry Bruner. He was retired after 45 years from the Lexington-Fayette County Housing Authority, served 8 years in the US Army Reserves and was a member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church. Johnny was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family. In addition to his loving wife and Mother he leaves his memories with a daughter and son-in-law Rene' and James Buck, granddaughter Sydney, sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Danny Robinson, brother and sister-in-law Jesse and Connie Bruner, as well as several nieces and nephews and other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by a brother Ronnie Bruner. A Service of Remembrance will be held 1:00 PM Friday, Feb . 28, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home by Rev. Mark Shelton and Rev. Dwayne Brewer. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring Johnny as pallbearers will be nephews Mike Bishop, Jesse and Jerry Shelton, Charlie Neal, Paul Doug Floyd, and Chris Bruner. Honorary bearers are Roger Benge, Billie Johns, Earl Osten, Billy Frye, and Elizabeth Elmore. His family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Thurs. Feb. 27 and from 11:00 AM until time of service on Friday, Feb. 28. Flowers are welcome but donations may be made to Brookside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in his memory.
