Joyce Wells Withers, 80, widow of Strawder L Withers who died in 1979 entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 16, at Ephriam McDowell Hospital. She and Strawder were married March 31, 1956, after he served his country in the US Army and was P.O.W. during WWII. Joyce was born Feb. 27, 1933, to the late Launey T. and Eural Blakeman Wells. She was honored as a Kentucky Colonel , was a Charter Member of the Jessamine Lutheran Church, graduate of Nicholasville High School and the Kentucky Business College and was a retired employee of Merrill Lynch. After retirement Joyce was active as the Jessamine County Arthritis Chairman for 12 years, catering for weddings, and care giving. She leaves to cherish her memory a son Steven Wells Withers, granddaughter Catlin Lauren Withers, her twin sister Doryce Wells Wise, nephews Kevin Thomas Wells, wife Debbie, Neville Townsend Wise, wife Teresa, and nieces Sharon Allison Reynolds, husband Bill, and April Wells Sallee, husband Bobby. She was preceded in death by a brother and his wife W.D. , Sr. and Sonia Wells, a sister and her husband Anna Katherine and Walter Allison, nephew W.D. Wells, Jr., and brother-in-law David Wise. A Remembrance will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, by Rev. Mike Snyder at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Neville T. Wise, Kevin T. Wells, Shaun Wells, Justin David Wise, Troy Sallee, and Bobby Sallee.
