Julian F. Jennette, 87, of South Main Street died Wed. Dec. 29, at Central Baptist Hospital. He was a native of Jessamine County born Sept. 19, 1923, to the late Ullie S. and Kathleen Jennette. Julian was retired from the US Postal Service having served in all 3 of the offices in Nicholasville where he began as a rural mail carrier, later carried mail in Nicholasville and was promoted to clerk, he was also a farmer and was a member of the Beef Cattle Association, Farm Bureau, Southern States Co op, Jessamine County Fair Board, and 4 H Club where he assisted his children showing cattle. Julian was an avid sports fan and enoyed watching all sports especially UK games. He was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church and a US Army veteran having served during WW II. Survivors include is loving wife and companion of 60 years Virginia Thompson Jennette,their children Kathy Walton husband Gerald, Julian "Bud" Jennette, Jr wife Beverly, Janice Crouch husband Carroll, and Harry "Tom" Jennette wife Laura, 3 grandsons Jason Walton wife Karen, Adam Walton wife Heather and Thomas Walton wife April, 5 great grandchildren Courtney, Dakota, Landon, Graham, and Aiden Walton, and a sister in law Anna Neal Jennette. He was preceded in death by a brother Joe Jennette. Service will be 11:00 AM Mon. Jan. 3 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, with Rev. Glen Corts officiating, burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons Jason, Adam, and Thomas Walton, Mike Thompson, Charles U. Jennette, and Doug Downing. Honorary bearers will be Earl Peel, Kenneth Hisel, Neal Cassity, Charles Wilson, Joe Jennette, Jr., Alvin Underwood, Ray Bradshaw, Creed Johns, John Nickell, Bobby Woodwad, Butch Fugate, Dr. C. B. Witt, Hugh Stotts, Jr.,Howard Downing, and William Walter Halfhill. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Sunday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home.
