Kirby Lane Collins, 75, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, left his earthly home on Monday, March 13, 2023. He was born September 6, 1947 in Jessamine County to the late Phil and Bessie Chapman Collins. Kirby was a skilled Master Carpenter who enjoyed being outdoors in his free time. His favorite pastimes were fishing and deer hunting, either with a bow or with a gun. Kirby proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era from 1965-1966. He leaves wonderful memories with his children, Marianne Collins and Phillip Thomas Collins, Phillip's mother Alma Diane Murphy, grandchildren Dustin Collins and Danielle Collins, brother Robert Collins, sisters Ann Collins and Mary Alice Collins, and a host of nieces and nephews and other beloved extended family members. In addition to his parents, Kirby was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Collins in 1983, as well as his brothers Phil Jr., Alvin, Michael, Stanley, and Jimmy Collins. Kirby will be laid to rest at a Graveside Service at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 16, 2023 in Wilmore Cemetery with Pastor Bob Rawlings presiding. His family will greet friends prior to the Service beginning at 1:00 PM Thursday at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. “I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life on earth is done.” Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the loyalty and trust given to us to care for Kirby and his family.
