Larry Gordon Scott Jr., 44, passed away at his home in Nicholasville, Kentucky on October, 27, 2006. Funeral services are scheduled at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 4, 2006, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Wichita Falls. Rev. Curt Plaxco of Stephenville, Tx. will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Larry graduated from Raceland High School in 1980 and joined the US Air Force in 1983. He was stationed in Indiana, California, Texas and Germany. Larry retired in 2004 after 22 years, as an E-7. He was active duty at SAFB in Wichita Falls for 8 years and received 9 decorations and commendations in his career. Larry, also, received a Masters Degree from Southern Illinois University. He worked in Civil Service as an Instructional Systems Developer at Vandenburg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California where he was diagnosed with bone cancer. Larry and his wife returned to Kentucky in 2006. He was an avid sports enthusiast and his favorite team was the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He loved going to the movies, playing golf and fishing. Larry was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and 1 son, Joe Harto.
Larry is survived by his wife of 21 1/2 years, Coleen Mahoney Scott, 2 daughters, Tonia Brannon and husband Justin of Rodney, Michigan, Shannon Scott of Dallas, Tx., 1 son, Jimmy Scott of Burkburnett, Tx., parents, Larry and Shirley (Brewer) Scott of Raceland, Ky., 1 brother, David Scott and wife Mary of Nicholasville, Ky., 2 sisters, Christine Harris and Karen Scott of Raceland, Ky., 3 Grandchildren, CJ, JT and Kyle, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Visitation is 6-7 PM Friday at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home
