Larry "Cat" Gene Cox

Larry Gene “Cat” Cox, 73, left his earthly home December 24, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital.  Cat was born in Danville, Kentucky on April 5, 1950 to the late William Earl and Anna Laura Smock Cox, one of their five children.  He was raised in the Baptist faith.  Cat enjoyed farming and working in tobacco, and was always willing to help others with their crops.  He liked swapping stories with members of the “Hardee’s Breakfast Club” and chatting with his buddies on the CB radio, where his handle was Road Runner.  Cat leaves a lifetime of memories with his sister Betty Joyce Abshear and many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Wayne Cox, William Lloyd Cox, and George Lee Cox, and his brother-in-law Marshall Abshear.  A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.  Cat’s family will greet friends at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, beginning at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM.  Donations are accepted by Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in person or by clicking on  Donation.   “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.  I’d like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us to care for Cat and his family.
