Our much loved wife and mother, Lea Moore Parmelee of Nicholasville, passed away on September 17, 2022 after three weeks at her new home in Titusville, Florida.
Lea was born October 15, 1944 in Miami, Florida to Ralph and Mary Rodgers Moore. She graduated from Miami Senior High School and obtained her Associate’s Degree in Criminology from Miami-Dade Junior College. From there she moved to Washington, DC to work for National Airlines which allowed her to travel the world. When asked to describe those days, she always said, “We had a GOOD time!” She loved having fun at every stage of her life.
The good time continued when she met Rex Parmelee in Washington, DC. They married in 1972 and celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Together they raised two kids in three states, traveled all over the US, and socialized with friends as often as possible.
Lea continued to work once the family was settled in Kentucky. She spent 25 years in the Jessamine County School System as a teacher’s aide, library assistant, and bus driver trainer. She loved all of the friends she made along the way. She was also active in many organizations and volunteered her time to help others in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law Kay Moore Holmes and Thomas Holmes.
Surviving Lea are her husband, Rex Parmelee of Titusville, Florida, her daughter and son-in-law Marisa Parmelee Campbell and Kenneth Campbell of Lexington, her son and daughter-in-law Rex Parmelee, Jr, and Terri Parmelee of Titusville, Florida, her grandchildren Caroline, Noah, and Amelia Parmelee, and her beloved dog, Maggie. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters in-law, Ralph and Gail Parmelee of Rochester, New York, Judi Veneron of Rochester, New York, and Jon and Shirley Parmelee of Indianapolis, Indiana, her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including those from her Bunco groups and the Lake of the Orchard.
She was the heart of our family, and we are thankful she experienced a long, full life.
Lea's obituary was lovingly submitted by her family. Hager and Cundiff Funeral home values the trust and friendship of the Parmelee family.
