Leon Goodlett, 86, widower of Imogene Goodlett since 2018, joined her in eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 20. He was born August 2, 1933, one of 15 children of the late Charles and Cora Goodlett. Leon was a life-long resident of Jessamine County, where he was a well known barber for 59 years, a farmer, and a business owner, having owned Goodlett Furniture. He was an accomplished horseman and enjoyed showing Tennessee Walking horses and loved showing Simmental cattle with his son Donnie, going to his grandchildren’s ballgames, and attending Brookside Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter Nancy Brumfield, husband Mike and son Donnie, wife Carole, grandchildren Maisie Goodlett, Ashley Hartley, husband Jeff, Eswin Brumfield, Rachel Goodlett, Cole Goodlett, and his favorite grand-fur babies Beau and Daisy. He was preceded in death by brothers David, Donald, Jr., James, and sister Linda Ann. A Remembrance Service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, Feb. 27, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, officiated by Leon's brother, Rev. Cleo Goodlett. Leon and Imogene will be laid to rest together in Maple Grove Cemetery following the Service. Honoring them as pallbearers will be Donnie and Cole Goodlett, Jeff Hartley, Jack Gill, Steven Goodlett, Mike Brumfield, and Eswin Brumfield. Honorary bearers will be Jeff Hartley, Eddie Kegley, Clay Corman, Kevin Corman, Jimmy Wells, Ashley Hartley, and Rachel Goodlett. The family will receive friends on Wednesday Feb. 26, beginning at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. “In sorrow at death but in gratitude for life, we now say our farewells to Leon and are thankful for the opportunity to have had him in our lives for the person he was and cherish the person who gave his care, concern, and the completeness you found in living a simple life”. The family suggests contributions be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators in his memory.
Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us by the Goodlett family.
