Leonard Leroy Johnson, 80, of Wilmore died Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. He was a native of Jessamine County born Oct. 5, 1930, to the late Wallace and Betty Christine Johnson and the widower of Wandalou Johnson who died in 2002. Leonard was a graduate of Wilmore High School, retired from the US Army having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and a retired employee of Trane Company. He is survived by his children Judy Christine Johnson and Randall Lee Johnson, brothers Michael Johnson, wife Bobbie Jean and Morgan ‘Muggs’ Johnson, 4 grandchildren Jimmie Johnson, Crystal Shell, Randi Lynn Roach, husband James, and Christi Miracle husband Bobby, 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son Victor Johnson.
Services will be 11:30 AM Monday, Nov. 22, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Fitch officiating. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Willie Reed, James Johnson, Danny Fielder, Charles West, Bill Prewitt, and Mike Johnson. Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 21, from 2 to 6 PM at the funeral home.
