Louise Embry Hurt

Louise Embry Hurt, 81, widow of Harold J. Embry who died in 1991 and Mike Hurt who died in 2014 entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 30. Louise was a native of Fayette County born Jan. 27, 1935, to the late Happy and Ivy Stevens Crouch, a member of the Mt Beulah Methodist Church and a very kind and caring person. At a very early age to she learned to cook having to stand on a stool to reach the stove. Her love of cooking continued throughout her life baking cakes for charities, making candy, and pies for people to have during the holidays and for the enjoyment of her own family. She also enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her children. One of the funniest activities Louise did was when she entered the Rocking Chair contest during one of the Jessamine Jamborees rocking and talking for 16 hours. She loved people and never met a stranger always willing to help a friend or neighbor. In the late 60's she was an employee of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, followed by employment at the Jessamine County School Board in the Cafeteria, K Mart, and RJ Corman Railroad Group once again doing what she loved most, cooking. She leaves all these memories and more with her children Donna Embry Hammond, special friend Bob Royse, Connie Mellon, husband Buster, Gary Embry, wife Pauletta Terry Weber, wife Shirley, and Bobby Weber, wife Sharon, 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She will be remembered and missed by a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends who will never forget her laugh and thoughtfulness. Louise was preceded in death by a son J.L. "Jakie" Embry, daughters Flora J. Hager and Teresa Bowman, brothers Shirley "Sonny" and Earl Crouch and sister Evelyn Fogelsong. She will be honored with a Remembrance Service 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 6, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery beside her first husband Harold. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Jim Crouch, Dale Durham, David Hughes, Jeff Webber, Chad Embry, and Joe Blackaby. Honorary bearers will be Bob Royse, Buster Mellon, and Ernie Presley. Her family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 5, at the funeral home. Donation may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the Bluegrass. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
