Lula Upton Masters

Lula "Dee" Upton Masters, 88, widow of Donald Masters since 1993, entered into eternal rest at Wellbrook of Westfield in Indiana on Thursday, Jan. 22. She was a native of Wilmore, KY born May 29, 1926, the second child of the late Major and Stella Tipton Upton. She was dedicated to her family while a young girl which carried over to her own children. She was a member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, retired underwriter for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., loved gardening, especially flowers, and was a great cook. Family members have tried to duplicate her caramel cake but due to her lack of measuring have found it impossible. She leaves this memory and many others with her daughters Donna L. Ferry, husband Donald and Kathryn Horton, husband Ken, grandchildren Donald Ferry, Jr., Emily Brooke Horton Morin, husband Justin, and Olivia Paige Horton, fiancé Andrew Winstead, great grandson Jackson Morin, sisters Kathryn Miller and Nancy McKinney, husband Gerald, sister-in-law Allene Upton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Cecil Upton. A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday Jan. 24, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Arp officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Wilmore Cemetery. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Greg McKinney, Ben Hager, Jared Hager, Donald Ferry, Jr., Justin Morin, and Ken Horton. Honorary bearers will be Cecil Upton, Jr., Major Kenny Upton, Jeff Miller, Andrew Winstead, and Alan Miller. Her family will greet visitors from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
