OBITUARY

Myrtle Margaret Taylor Trimble, 83, of Nicholasville, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Lexington after a long illness. She was born in Archer City, TX, on November 17, 1927, to Myrtle and Redwood Taylor. After the family returned to Kentucky, she graduated from Boyd County High School as salutatorian of her class. She attended Morehead State University and Marshall University where she majored in music. She married Arnold Clyde Trimble on July 17, 1948.

Mrs. Trimble often said her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her children and making a lovely home for her family throughout the family’s many moves. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. Outside the home she was constantly active in United Methodist Women’s fellowship, leading studies and holding various offices, including president on several occasions. She was most recently a member of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. She was also passionate about gardening. She was a member of various prestigious garden clubs, including the Fayette Rose and Garden Club. She took on many leadership roles through the years, and was well-known for her roses and floral arranging skills.

She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Clyde Trimble She is survived by one sister, Lois Dixon of Lexington; two children, Judith (Mrs. John) VanSteenberg of Memphis, TN., and David C. (Corinne) Trimble of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Christopher J. (Karen) VanSteenberg of East Greenwich, RI, and Catherine L. (Mrs. Casey) Shockey of Austin, TX, Ewing Anne (Mrs. Jay) Dunn of Lexington, and Andrea Shropshire of Georgetown; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Ann and William Alan VanSteenberg of East Greenwich, RI.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, 2011, at 1:00 at the Nicholasville United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 9 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville.
