Mark Erinn Thompson, a devoted husband, father, and coach passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on December 30, 2021 at the age of 47.  He was born in Fayette County on January 6, 1974 to the late Mark Allen Thompson and the late Katherine (Kitty) Johns Thompson.

Erinn grew up in Harrodsburg, KY and as a young adult moved to Lexington where he met and married the love of his life Kristy Allen Thompson.  Together they have four boys Andrew (23), Benjamin (21), Camron (18) and Nicholas (17).  As their family began to grow, they moved to Nicholasville.  Most of his career he worked in logistics but his true passion was family, coaching, and athletics.  Erinn played a multitude of sports in high school and coached his boys from time they were toddlers.  He was quite the athlete and passed that passion onto his boys.  Erinn made time to coach both baseball and golf for the East Jessamine High School Jaguars.  He was a dedicated coach who had a profound impact on many of his players both on and off the field.

In some respects, Erinn was a homebody as nothing gave him more pleasure than being with his family.  In spite of his busy schedule working full time and coaching, he was always the first to offer a helping hand to family and friends.  Erinn’s capabilities were endless, he was the family barber, mechanic and home improvement guru.  Erinn loved life and lived it to the fullest, bringing joy to everyone around him.  The things he enjoyed most in life were family, the ocean, and sports, especially the University of Kentucky Wildcats.  Words cannot express how much he will be missed and that life will never be same for many of us.

In addition to his wife and boys, Erinn is survived by his grandmother Jeanie Walton Thompson, a sister Jaisa Thompson Miracle (Malcolm), sister-in-law Tracy Fischer (Jeff), brother-in-law Michael Allen (Laura), sister-in-law Robin Haywood, brother-in-law Danny Haywood, in-laws Tom and Brenda Haywood, Johnny and Carol Allen, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.  He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews Malin Miracle, Emma Miracle, Jake Miracle, Sydney Fischer, Carter Fischer, Amanda Allen, Shawn Allen, and Mikey Allen.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reverend John T. Thompson and Fred and Ruth Johns, two uncles, Stephen Thompson and Bart Johns, and an aunt, Karen Johns Kelley.

Visitation will take place at Southland Christian Church, 5001 Harrodsburg Road Building B Theater 81 on Tuesday January 4 from 2-6 pm with the service immediately following the visitation.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a Go Fund Me page to help the family with hospital related expenses.
