The loving Mother of Chris Carter, Mary E. Carter, 85, left her earthly home to join her son Harrison Linville and daughter Diana Humphrey who preceded her in death. Chris has been left with the legacy of the lessons she taught, her stories she told and her traditions. A native of Kentucky she, born to the late Joseph Ray and Rose Crawley Estes. Mary was the former owner of Mary Carter Upholstery Shop, a member of Lexington Bethel Church, and she loved to garden and can vegetables. Not only does she leave her legacies to her son, but she has shared them with her daughter-in-law Connie, her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by son Tom Linville, sisters Dorothy Burton, Lula Cunliffe, and Pauline Hall, as well as many other extended family members. A Remembrance Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Mary will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Lexington following the Service. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Steve Carter, Joe Linville, Joe Davis, Kenny Caldwell, Jeremy Thacker and Tommy Carter. Honorary bearers will be Morris Gil, Isaiah Davis, and Drake Davis. Her family will greet friends from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, Oct. 31 and from 10 AM to Service time on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home. Hager & Cundiff is honored to serve the Carters.
