Mary Alice Gayheart, 95, widow of W. C. Gayheart since 2000, joined him in eternal rest on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.  Mary Alice was a native of Clark County, born August 2, 1922, to the late Dillard T. and Emily Jane Barnett Crowe.  She was a former member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church but in recent years attended Bethel Christian Church.  She was a dedicated homemaker and mother of 9 children, 7 who are living and include daughters Patricia Long, husband Harold, Caroline Wilhoite, husband Jimmy, Lois Wright, sons Steve Gayheart, wife Margaret, David Gayheart, wife May, Kenny Gayheart, and Roger Gayheart.  She leaves her legacy with 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother Robert B. Crowe and a host of nieces and nephews.  Mary Alice was preceded in death by sons Ray and Mike Gayheart, grandson Joseph Gayheart, granddaughter B.J. Gayheart, great grandchildren Courtney and Collin, brothers Donald Wayne Crowe, Orville Crowe, Dillard Crowe and Arthur Crowe, sisters Edith Freeman, Gladys Hanks, Esther Miller, Barbara Stamper, Hazel Stokley, Marie Trusty, and Jean Allen.  A Remembrance Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Bill Bales. Following the service she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Robert Earl Crowe, Steve Hale, Benji Proctor, Doug Stamper, Joseph Savage, Les Underwood, and Randy Stamper.   Her family will greet friends starting at 5:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 19 at the funeral home.  The family suggests contributions be made in her memory to Bluegrass Care Navigators (formerly Hospice) Jessamine County Division.  “ Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, missed beyond measure”.  We at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home are honored to serve the Gayheart family.
