Mary Christine Hammond, 83, widow of Charles L. Hammond since 1995, left her earthly home on Thursday, May 24.  She was one of 13 children born to the late Benjamin F. and Fannie Mae Lowry Anderson in Logan County, Kentucky.  She was a hard-working, fun-loving person who raised 6 children and left with them her legacy.  Christine was of the Methodist faith, loved collecting glass shoes, costume jewelry and going to yard sales to search out baby dolls that needed a home.  She had a green thumb and loved to grow red begonias, wondering Jew, Asian Lillies, and Hen and Chicken flowers.  She made many quilts and shams and loved to do word searches, but her favorite pastime was sitting on the porch listening to and singing country music.  She was a loving mother to children Debbie Peters, husband Bill, Doug Hammond, Judy Hammond-Baker, Nancy Hammond, Kathy Clifton, and Joan Smith, with whom she had lived with for the past 8 years, grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, with numerous great and great great grandchildren.  She also will be remembered by brothers Bobby, Junior, Larry, Donald and Charlie and sisters Joyce and Shirley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by sisters Oma Mae, Catherine, Daisy and Mazel and brother Chester.  Her family will greet friends on Tuesday starting at 11:00 AM at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and a Graveside Remembrance will be held at 1:30 PM at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.  Honoring her as pallbearers will be David Menville, Travis Baker, Adam Smith, Josh Hoover, Ethan Epperson, Daryl Graham and Jason Hubbard.  Her family suggest donations be made in memory to the Alzheimer’s  Association.  Christine wrote the following on Sept 5, 1998: “Remember me with  smile and laughter.  That’s the way I remember you all, if you only remember me with tears, don’t remember me at all”.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve Christine’s family.
