Nicholasville: Mary Frances Lane, 98, of West Maple St. died Friday, Aug. 24, at Royal Manor Nursing Home. She was a native of Fayette County and a life long resident of Jessamine County bron March 30, 1914, to the late Charles Mann and Effie Crowder Goss.

She was the widow of Haydon Lane who died in 1980. She was a member of Nicholasville Baptist Church, the Hare Sunday School Class, the WMU, and Hanley Homemakers. She and her late husband were owners of Lane’s Drive In Restaurant that opened in 1958 and Lane’s Rest Home on Second Street for many years.

Survivors include her son Ronald Lane, granddaughter Candy Lane, great grandchildren Hayden Lane and Burgess Thacker, and sister in law Mildred Collins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers Joe, Howard, Jesse, Bob, and Willie Goss, 3 sisters Margie Greene, Jimie T. Higgs, and Nellie Epelee, and a daughter in law Wanda Lane.

A Remembrance Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, Aug. 27, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Whitehouse officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Harold Higgs, Tim Brown, Allen and Charles Collins, Jimmy and Ricki Greene. Honorary bearers will be the Hare Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 26, from 3 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
