Nicholasville: Mary E. Shelton Young, 80, of Hickory Hill, died Thurs. April 16, at her home. A native of Clover Bottom she was born April 25, 1928, to the late Stanley and Stattie Disponette Shelton. Mary was the widow of Casper Lynn Young who died in 1967, a retired employee of GE and attended Lighthouse Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. Survivors include her 2 daughters Vickie Scott, husband Bill, Georgia and Bonnie Stipe, husband Mac, Nicholasville, a brother Bobby Shelton, wife Cricket, sister Georgia Welch, husband Romeo, 4 grandchildren Nikki Bickford, husband Scott, Russ Griffith, wife Sandra, Brandy Payton, husband Clifton, Ross Griffith, wife Lucy, 10 great grandchildren Logan, Ally, and John William Bickford, Grayson and Wakelyn Payton, Hunter, Kennedy, Tyler, Clayton and Carson Griffith, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Catherine and husband R.G. Young, Elsie and husband Lester Reynolds and a brother in law Leslie Young.

Services will be 1:00 PM Sat. April 18, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Schwarz officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery. Ross Griffith, Russ Griffith, Romeo Welch, Mike Hammond, Bill Scott, and Mac Stipe will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Shelton, Tammy Horton, Shelia Lunsford, Connie Lynch, and Hospice. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Fri. April 17, at the Funeral Home.
