Mary E. "Boo" (Prather) Wells Profile Photo

Mary Elizabeth (“Boo”) Prather Wells, of Wilmore, Kentucky, born on January 5, 1916 in Troy, Kentucky, to the late Alma Black Prather and the late Boswell Prather, passed away July 16, 2018 in  Lexington, Kentucky at Meadowthorpe Assisted Living.

Mary was the loving wife of the late Raymond Wells to whom she was married for 58 years. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Gene Prather Kurtz and Thelma Prather. Mary is survived by her nephews John Kurtz & Family of Savannah GA and Ron Kurtz & Family of Irving TX & other Family members - many friends.

Auntie Boo and Uncle Raymond were loved by many in Wilmore KY where they farmed before moving into town.  They owned the Wells and Woods Grocery Store and many times unknown by most were benevolent care givers to those in the area that had needs.  She was known to be an excellent cook and was tireless in keeping her home clean and orderly.  Her favorite scripture was also the testimony of her life as she shared the Light through her joy, humor and love for others.

Matthew 5:14-16  (NKJV)

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Psalm 116:15  (HCSB)

15 The death of His faithful ones
is valuable in the Lord’s sight

Mary had been a member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church  since childhood. Friends and family can visit starting at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 18, and attend the celebration of life service 11:00 AM at Mt. Freedom.  She will be laid to rest by her husband Raymond in the Versailles Cemetery.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wells Family.
