Together, they raised a family, farmed, started Blakeman Oil Service, and Jessamine Business Services.  Eleanor was a well-respected member of the community and businesswoman.  She successfully took care of bookkeeping and tax services for many in her community, along with managing Jessamine County Water District #1 and Jessamine South Elkhorn Water District. She was a member of Nicholasville Christian Church, Trabue Chapter of the DAR, and served on several civic boards.
