Mattie Welch Stinnett, 85, daughter of the late T.R. and Alene Comley Welch, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday August 16, 2022.  She was a native of Jessamine County born April 7, 1937. Mattie was a homemaker and an accomplished cook who loved to make sweet bread, cookies, and pies.  She was member of Wilmore Free Methodist Church and was so thankful for friends who took their time to take her there on Sunday.  She will be fondly remembered by her brother Tommy Welch and sister-in-law Teresa Welch, along with nephews Dwight Willis, wife Jo, Tommy Willis and Regina, niece Kathy Cobb, and many extend family members.   She will be missed by her special friends Patty Butterworth and Cindy and Bob Peterson.   Mattie was preceded in death by her son Billy Stinnett, sister Darlene and her husband Denton Willis. A Remembrance Service will be conducted by Rev. Wally Rendel  at 1:30 PM Friday, Aug. 19, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM and ending at time of service. She will be laid to rest next to her son in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Honoring her as pallbearers will be Dwight and Tommy Willis, Don Butterworth, Garry Comley, Mike Hay, and Greg Welch.  Donations may be made in her memory to Sayre Christian Village, 3775 Belleau Woods Dr. , Lexington, KY 40517.
