September 18, 1921 - January 13, 2016
Mavis Ina Hubbard, 94, widow of Harold E. "Pete" Hubbard was reunited with him once again on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Mavis was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Toronto, Canada. She lived a long and purposeful life and was one of a kind. She could certainly have been president of the Red Hat Society. She did what she wanted and how she wanted. She lived her life to serve God, her husband Harold "Pete" Hubbard whom she married July 2, 1960, her church and the patients she tended during her nursing career. She was a very educated woman both as an RN and self educated. She could speak and be very knowledgeable on any topic and argue her point very decisively. She was well traveled and enjoyed seeing the world with her husband whom she adored. She cared about people all over the world and did what she could to monetarily help many worthy causes. She was a dedicated Christian and loved her church Nicholasville United Methodist Church here and prior to that the Chicago Temple Methodist Church. She was always up for an adventure and could always make you laugh. She had a humorous side that would make you wonder if you had just been insulted or graciously put in your place. She was well loved and equally loved others. Though short in stature her hugs were tremendous. Her impact on this world will be truly missed but we know for sure God has called her home and she is worthy. She leaves these memories as well as many others with nephews Donnie Hubbard, wife Pam, his sons and wives Lucas and Amanda Hubbard and Marcus and Alexandra Hubbard, James Hubbard, Jerry Hubbard, and Frankie Hubbard and nieces Jody Vickers, Jackie Mullins, and Joyce Hollingsworth. A Remembrance Service by Rev. Wade Arp will be held 11:30 AM on Friday, Jan. 15, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Her family will greet visitors from 10:00 AM until service time. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Donnie, Frank, Jerry, Jason, Lucas, and Marcus Hubbard. Honorary bearers will be James Hubbard, Jackie Mullins, Jody Vickers and Joyce Hollingsworth. Donations may be made in her memory to the Nicholasville United Methodist Church Building Fund.
