Michael A. "Mike" McMillen, 57, of Wilmore, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 15, at his home. A native of Wilmore, KY, he was born Sept. 15, 1955, to David L. McMillen and the late Dorothy Alexander McMillen. Mike was Coordinator of the North American Racing Academy of Equine Study, after many years of teaching and administration at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. As an educator Mike taught many young people throughout the years and had become especially fond of his time at the Equine Center. His years as an educator was the major part of his life giving him the opportunity to travel to seminars all over the country. He was a math genius and could help his students with any type of problem. His hobby was helping his brother Tim with his pulling tractor and collecting Howard Fain prints. In addition to his father he leaves to cherish his memory a sister Connie McMillen Bandy, husband Michael, brother Joseph Timothy "Tim" McMillen, wife Bari Kay, nieces Allison Bandy Merrell, husband David, Timberly McMillen Kidwell, husband Curt, nephew Christopher Bandy, great nieces and nephews McKayla, Micah, and Eli Kidwell and Matthew Merrell along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother David Dana McMillen and his wife Judith. A Service of Remembrance will be 12:00 noon on Sat. July 20, at Wilmore Free Methodist Church with Rev. Dwight Winters officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Versailles Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Curt Kidwell, Remy Belloq, Ron Pennington, Shorty Hahn, Kyle Schroder, Chris Bandy, and David Merrell. The teachers and staff at school that were with him throughout his career will serve as Honorary Bearers. His family will receive friends at the church on Friday, July 19, from 5 to 8 PM and on Sat. from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. Guestbook www.hagerandcundifffunerals.com
