Nadine J. Nowitzki, 78, formerly of Homewood, Illinois, loving wife for 55 years to Michael Nowitzki was freed from her earthly frailty and resurrected into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 8 at Royal Manor Nursing Home. She was a native of Minden Mines, Missouri born Jan. 27, 1936, to the late William and Lauretta Laukey-Norton Swaffar. She was a devoted homemaker and Mother to Ivan Nowitzki, wife Cindy, Lena Mesis, husband John, Mary Surma, husband Steve, Brian Nowitzki, wife RoseMary, Carl Nowitzki, wife Brenda, and Jeffrey Nowitzki, wife Victoria. Besides being called Mom, she was affectionately known as Ma, Omma and even Moombee, Moombee Moom. She leaves her legacy with 12 grandchildren, Jason, Sean, Rachel, Amanda, Tamra, Steve, Megan, Matthew, Robert, Aryana, Jonathan, and Jessica, 7 great grandchildren, Morgan, Keith, Eva, Cameron, William, Aiden, and Gabi as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 9 siblings, Pearl, TommyLee, William, Mary, Charles, Harold, Lyle, Jackey, and Darlene. She loved music, especially Southern Gospel and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and even a make-shift Hawaiian Guitar for family sing-alongs. Nadine was a long-time member of Tinley Park Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the choir and served the ministry in many capacities through the years. Later, she attended Calvary Church of the Nazarene, both in Illinois. Most recently, she faithfully attended Wilmore Free Methodist's Saturday morning services at Royal Manor Nursing Home. She loved worshiping her Savior so much, she even insisted on getting out of bed for church on her last day on this earth. Her Service of Remembrance will be held 12:00 Noon March 12, at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church by Rev. Dwight Winter. Nadine's family will receive friends at the Church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of Service. Flowers are welcome but donations to Wilmore Free Methodist Church Nursing Home Ministry are encouraged. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Nowitzki.
