Nicholasville: Nancy Ruth Brooks Gayhart, 78, died Wed. May 26, at the home of her daughter Wanda Cassell in Michigan. Nancy was a native of Jessamine County born March 28, 1932, to the late Elliott and Gladys Hamm Brooks. She was the widow of Clevert Gayhart who died in 2006. During their 60 years of marriage she was his support in all his endeavors such as the Gayhart Grocery located at Little Hickman and farming. Nancy was an active member of Wesley Chapel and a loving mother. Her passion was children and spending time with her family. She is survived by 2 caring daughters Wanda Gayhart Cassell, husband Ron and Dorthea Gayhart Stephens, husband Curt, 5 grandchildren Stuart Lance Hager, Hannah Stephens, Ryan Corman, Kyle Clevert Corman and Ashley Corman, 1 great granddaughter and name sake Katherine Ruth Floyd, a sister Elsie Roberts, a brother Clarence Brooks, sisters in law Dorothy Teater, Rachel Canter, and Diane Brooks, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Harry and Paul Brooks, and 2 grandchildren Misty Clay and Kevin Lynn Hager.
Services will be 1:00 Thurs. June 3, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Bowman and Rev. Chris Harrison officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, David Brooks and Robert Floyd. Honorary bearers will be Ron Cassell, Curt Stephens, Billy Teater, Larry Roberts, Charles Hager, Kevin Corman, and Kim Bommarito, Wayne, Barbara, Roseline, Carolyn and Gene Brooks Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Wed., June 2, at the funeral home.
