Wilmore: Nellie Wylie Penn Herriford, 104, of N. Maple Street, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Central Baptist Hospital. She was a native of Wilmore born Oct. 1, 1905, to the late Elmer L. and Nannie Elizabeth Lowry Penn and the widow of George T. Herriford who died in 1991. Nellie was a graduate of Wilmore High School, member of the Wilmore Presbyterian Church where she served as treasurer for approximately 60 years, member of the Ky. WCU, and the Woman’s Club. She was a retired employee for Farmers Bank, Wilmore Branch, where she worked for 38 years. Survivors include a sister Christine Gretter, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother John M. Penn and 4 sisters Katherine Penn, Virginia Reynolds, Elizabeth Penn, and Anne Edwards.

Services will be held Friday, March 19, at Wilmore Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beth Garrod-Logsdon, Rev. Kathy Riley, and Dr. Winston Smith officiating, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Peter Beaty, Jim Parrish, Mike Johnson, John Settle, Jerry Haws, and Billy Carroll. Honorary bearers will be Howard Downing and Winston Smith. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 noon until time of service. Donations may be made in her memory to Wilmore Presbyterian Church.
