Orval Thomas Hughes

Orval T. Hughes, 85, of Troy Pike died Fri. Oct 12, at St Joseph Hospital. A native of Jessamine County he was born Sept. 7, 1922, to the late George W. and Julia Jones Hughes. He was self employed having owned a sawmill and had been a farmer all his life. Orval loved woodworking and enjoyed making furniture as well as fishing and gardening. He attended Clover Bottom Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Stella Reynolds Hughes, his sisters in law Lucille Brooks, Anna Holderman and husband Charles, Ruth McComb and husband Rick, Mary Ellen Reynolds, brother in law Donald Reynolds and wife Dixie, several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00 PM Tues. Oct. 16, with Rev. Don Reed and Rev. David Duggans officiating, burial in Wilmore Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Apollos, Ken Scroggins, Walter Bradshaw, Jimmy Hughes, Gary Curd, and Bob Christian. Honorary bearers will be Dick Davis, George Bishop, Ed Christian, Kay Apollos, and Henrietta Smith. Visitation will be Mon. Oct. 15, from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
