Nicholasville: Pearl Becker Johnston Crowe, 100, of Royal Manor Nursing Home formerly of Second Street died Tues. March 24. She was the widow of Irvin Crowe and the daughter of the late John T. and Mattie Bones Johnston. Having attended the University of Kentucky and graduating from Berea College in 1929 she taught school in Marion and Jessamine Counties. Pearl was a member of the Jessamine County Women’s Club and the Nicholasville Christian Church. Survivors include her sister Josephine Johnston Smith, New Mexico, sister in law Mrs. Paul E. Johnston, Owensboro, nieces Susan Powell, husband Ernie, Elizabethtown, Jane Thomas Durkee, husband Robert, New Mexico, and Martha Carol Cummings, husband David, Georgia, nephews Kenneth E. Johnston, Louisville, Paul E. Johnston, wife Laura, Indiana and Gaines T. Johnston, Mississippi, cousins Eleanor M. Blakeman and Dorothy M. Ward, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Jane Johnston Miracle, twin brothers John Boner and William McDonald Johnston, and brother Paul Elliott Johnston.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Fri. March 27, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Mandrell officiating, and will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Howard Downing, Lemon Lee, Ernie Powell, Mark Goddard, and Michael Ward. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thurs. March 26, at the Funeral Home. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness of the staff of the Royal Manor Nursing Home. Contributions may be made in Pearl’s memory to the Nicholasville Christian Church.
