Phyllis Jean (Drury) West

Phyllis Jean West, 86, joined her beloved husband Gene Allen West in eternal rest on Jan. 11, 2025.  She was a native of Lexington born May 14,1938, to the late Roy and Lillian Dennis Drury. Phyllis was a member of the Mt Freedom Baptist Church in Wilmore. She loved people and loved working at the Wilmore Day Care. It has been said that she had the cleanest house in Wilmore, which was another one of her passions. Survivors include her sister Dixie Reynolds and her husband Donald, nieces Ruth Ann Fain, Judy Yann, and Michelle East, nephews Craig and Chris Reynolds and William Dale Grimes. She will be welcomed home by her son Jeffrey West, sister Judy Montgomery and brother Roy Dale Drury, who all have passed before her.  The family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 AM on Monday Jan 20 at the Funeral Home until time of her Remembrance Service at 2:00 PM. Following the Service,  Phyllis will be laid to rest beside her husband in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Craig Reynolds, Chris Reynolds, William D. Grimes, Scott East, Jarrod Squires, and Ben Yann.  Honorary bearers will be Clay Corman and J.D. Houp. The family suggests donations be made to Mt Freedom  Baptist Church, Wilmore, KY. “The most important thing is even when we’re apart…….I’ll always be with you.”  All arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and we express our deepest sympathies to Phyllis’s family and friends.
