Ray Wells, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, died on August 28, 2017. He was the widower of Janice R. Wells who died on August 23, 2017. Ray leaves behind his son Scott and daughter-in law Julie, daughter Laura and friend Brent Coop. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Jan and infant daughter Jan Allison. Ray was born in Mt. Sterling, KY on February 13, 1937, to Marietta P. Wells and Harold G. Wells. Ray is also survived by grandsons Ryan Neff, Grant Wells, granddaughters Katie Neff McRae and Lindsey Fannin. Also surviving is sister Barbara Dixon, and brothers Jimmy, Charles, and David and their spouses, and several nieces and nephews. Ray retired from IBM, Lexington, KY, and during his retirement years drove a school bus for the Jessamine County School System and for Wombles Charter Bus Company. Ray was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Nicholasville, where he served as an usher and deacon for many years.
Visitation will occur at Edgewood Baptist Church, S. Main St., starting 5:00 and ending at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 31 and starting at 10:00 AM and ending at 10:50 before the Service on Friday, Sept. 1, at the Church. A Remembrance Service will be held at Edgewood Baptist Church on Friday, September 1, 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Bob Blankenship and Dr. Carl Peters. Pallbearers are Ryan Neff, Grant Wells, Sam McRae, and Aaron Gillum. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Jim Smith Sunday School Class, Edgewood Baptist Church. A private family graveside service will occur at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville.
