Wilmore: Richard L. Freels, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Wed., April 9. A native of Highbridge he was born April 4, 1933, to the late Elmer Smith and Dollie Miller Freels. He was a member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, a former member of the Wilmore Volunteer Fire Department, and a veteran of the US Army. His life was for his Lord, his wife , children and grandchildren. He was a walking testimony and firm believer of his Faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Dovie McKenney Freels, 4 children, Deborah Goins, Lancaster, Elmer Freels, Alabama, Michael Freels, Lexington, and Claudia Freels, Wilmore, 3 grandchildren Dustin Goins, wife Jana, Hannah Guy, and Chase Freels, 4 great grandchildren, a sister Edna Lucas, Georgetown, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Claudie B. Freels, 2 sisters Ella Mae Daugherty, Helen Brock and a granddaughter Amanda Goins.
Services will be 12:00 noon on Tues., April 15, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Spann officiating, burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bradley Lucas, Shawn Sewell, Frankie Daugherty, Dustin Goins, Chase Freels, Billy Brock, Tony Brock, Arthur Sanford, Will Daugherty, Maxwell Potratz, and Elmer Freels. Honorary bearers will be Wilmore Volunteer Fire Department, Danny West, Raymond West, Lloyd Cook ‘Mr. Cookie’, and Sarah Howard. Visitation will be Mon., April 14, from 4 to 8 PM.
