A limb has fallen from the Frye family tree. Rickie Frye, 63, left his earthly home on Thursday, May 12, 2022 and joined his wife Mary Lee Switzer Frye in eternal rest. He was born on Jan. 4, 1959, to the late Vernon Johnson and Etta Mays Frye and was the step-son of the late Jim Frye. Rickie was a workaholic and loved farming, gardening, and mechanic work, especially building cars for dirt track racing. He was fond of telling stories about the past and pointing out places that his family had lived to his grandchildren. His favorite morning pastime was drinking coffee at the Waffle House. He was proud of his son Richard in his recent endeavor of creating his own business by have a Rollback truck and a tow truck. He will be fondly remembered by his daughters Patricia Plowman, husband Eddie Hendrix, Charlesetta Swartz, husband Jeff, and son Ricky, wife Tonya, brother Danny Johnson, sisters Margaret Becknell, Barbara Taylor, Zella Garcia, Trish Ritchie, and Gail Frye, as well as his loving grandchildren Jennah Rawlins, Shay Raider, Kenzie Rawlins, Allie Marshall, Gracie Frye, Jayden Frye, Leelin Frye, Sky Frye, and Tiffany Sorrel, great grandchildren Tyler Plowman, Preston Raider, Jaxson Raider, Maddie Cook, Lainey Cook, and Oakleigh Marshall. Rickie had many nieces and nephews who will also miss him. He was preceded in death by Dale Johnson, Dallas, Johnson, Pattie Jo Johnson, and Karen Best. A Service of Remembrance will be held 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, following which Rickie will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Lake Mingo Park after leaving the cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Scotty Barnett, Gracie and Ricky Frye, Jennah Rawlins, Kwyntyn Marshall and Billy Barnett. Honorary bearers will be Eddie Hendrix, Tiffany Sorrell, Charlie Swartz, Trish Plowman, Jimmy Johnson and Tyler Plowman. The Frye family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 PM on Monday, May 16, and ending at 8:00 PM. “His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, he was loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure.” Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the loyalty and trust given to us by the Frye Family.
