Robert Mitchell Cecil, 96, of Wilmore passed away August 1, 2021, to be with the Lord and join his wife of 75 years, Mary L. Cecil, in his heavenly resting place. Born to Courtney and Alberta Cecil in 1925. He was a devoted husband and father and a good teacher of hard work to his children and grandchildren. A retired builder and farmer, he taught his children and grandson how to build and pass those talents down the family tree. He strived for hard work and thought everyone else should too. As the Lord was a carpenter as well, he worked for over 80 years doing the same and helping others. He never met a stranger, was always upbeat, jovial, enjoyed fishing and the farm life. He is survived by a son, James Robert Cecil, Wilmore and a daughter, Joy Cecil Doyle, Lexington. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Robert J. Doyle (Jessica), who followed in his footsteps of being a builder, adored Kristy Cecil Sturgill (Chad) and 5 great grandchildren, Andrew, Aly, Bo, Noah, and Isaac. Jean Tudor, sister, survives, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother James T. Cecil in 2020 and a sister Ruby Jackson in 2021.
A member of the Wilmore Methodist Church, he let his faith guide him to a long life. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to one's favorite charity. Graveside services, Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville, KY, August 5th, 2021, Thursday, 11AM. Pallbearers will be Robert Doyle, Andrew Doyle, Adam Brumfield, Chad Sturgill, Bo Juett, Jeff Juett, Ben Hall, Barry Jackson, and Dan Kearns. The family wishes to thank all care givers, all neighbors and friends for their kindness throughout the many years.
