Robert Gustav Holmes, 84, of Nicholasville, husband of Roberta "Bobbie", entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. A native of Illinois he was born Aug. 30, 1927, to the late Gustav Wilgate and Olga Krantz Holmes. Bob was a US Navy veteran of 4 years having entered into the service through the Minority Cruise arrangement for ages 17 to 21. Since 1978 he has been a member of the local congregation of the Jehovah's Witness where he served as an Elder. He and Bobbie married in 1946 and became Jehovah's Witness in 1951. They attended the Watch TowerBible School of Gilead in 1956 amd served as missionaries in Peru for 2 years. From 1962 to 1972 they traveled in the States for the Watch Tower Society. Before becoming one of the Jehovah' s Witness he attended a photography school in Philidelphia and afterward worked as a professional photographer.They settled in Lexington in 1972, and he began a career with Mighty Distributors from which he retired in 1995. After retirement his talent as a photographer led him to teach himself to paint with water colors painting many beautiful pictures. He leaves his memories with his wife Bobbie that occurred during their travels while spreading the gospel and their many friends. Survivors also include nieces Judith DelaRosa, CA, Joan Quigley,, husband Tom, IN and Jackie Smith, husband George, IL., nephew James Fitzpatrick, wife Pat, IN. He was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters. A Memorial Talk by Michael Chinn will be held at 3:00 PM Nov 1, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 110 Shannon Parkway, Nicholasville, KY.
