A limb has fallen from the Teater family tree; Rollie Teater, 91, left his earthly home on Sunday, Oct. 28. Rollie has been the widower of Willowdean Teater since 1997. He was a native of Jessamine County born on Oct. 28, 1927, one of 4 children to the late Bradie Ford and Elizabeth Dean Brooks Teater. Rollie was self employed businessman having owned Teater Trucking Company, was partner in the Old Burley Tobacco Warehouse, was manager for the Loose Leaf Tobacco Warehouse, as well as owning several farms that he farmed. In earlier years he played catcher for several pro baseball teams in Nicholasville and for the St. Louis Cardinals. His love of sports made him become an avid UK basketball fan, having had tickets to the games since 1943, and he never missed a home game until 1992. He leaves his legacy with son Gary Teater, wife Bonnie, and daughter Rhonda Ellison, husband Ronnie, grandchildren Bradie Keith Ellison, wife Shae, Whitney Graham Lairson, Tanye McFadden, and Ron Graham, as well as 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He leaves his childhood memories with sisters Roberta Stinnett and Nina Young. Rollie was preceded in death by a sister Billie Jean Teater, brothers-in-law Bennis Stinnett and Donald Young, and step grandson Gregory Graham. A Remembrance Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, Oct 31, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Arp officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service beside his wife in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Bradie Keith Ellison, Monte Young, Ronnie Collins, Colton Hood, Colby Mulcahy, and Ronnie Graham. Honorary bearers will be Billy Fount House, Ed Easterly, Phil House, Coy Warefield, John McCloud, and Michael Hurst. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, Oct. 30, starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM at the funeral home. “Grieve not for me, remember the best times, the laughter and the good life I lived while I was strong”.
