Wilmore - Dr. Ross O. Bridewell, 90, of Trotter Way. husband of Emma Jean Bridewell entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 5th at his home after a short illness. Ross was a native of Crystal River, Mississippi born October 26th, 1926, to the late Nat Bridewell and Betty Duncan Bridewell. He was a retired Professor at Asbury University and a veteran of the US Air force having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Duke University and also earned his Ph.D. in Spanish at the University of Kentucky. Earlier in his careerhe was a Spanish professor at Stephen F. Austin University in Texas before moving to Wilmore with his wife where he continued teaching Spanish at Asbury University.He was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church and also a very accomplished gardener.
In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish his memory children, Mary Margaret "Markie" Clements, husband Steve, Wilmore; Levannah Silverwood, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Travis Bridewell, Williamsburg, Va.:and George Bridewell, Richmond, Va; 7 grandchildren and a great grandchild, a brother Joseph Bridewell, Ft. Worth ,Texas; sisters Clarissa Cordre, Dallas, Texas and Charlotte Swain, Tarpon Springs, FL .
A Service of Remembrance will be 6:00 PM, Wednesday, February 12th, at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Strange officiating. Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to the Glover - Bridewell Memorial Scholarship Program C/O Asbury University, Wilmore, Ky 40390
