Roy Allen Neal, 76, affectionally known as "Hoghead", left his earthly home with his son by his side on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the VA Hospital on Cooper Drive. He was born July 26, 1939, to the late Lee Roy and Anna Mae Crawley Neal in Fayette County. He was a veteran of the US Army, loved to farm, fish, and have family time. He leaves his memories with his loving wife of 50 years Thelma, son Robbie Neal, wife Crystal, son-law- Ronnie Sullivan, wife Jackie, grandchildren Clinton Sullivan, wife Stephanie, Darrin Sullivan, and Jarrett Neal, great grandson Cain Andrew Sullivan, brother Dan Wayne Neal, wife Brenda, sisters Phyllis Hartman, husband Kermit, Mary Catherine Abner, Ruby Fields, husband Clayton, Linda McMillan, husband Charlie, and Billie Neal Black, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons Roy Allen "Big Al" Neal II, and Steven Todd Neal, daughter Tammy Renee Sullivan, brother Bobby Clark Neal, sisters Ora Lea and Alfred Clem, and Virginia Carpenter and brother-in-law Lester Abner. A Service of Remembrance will be held 12:30 PM Monday, Dec. 28, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Les Marler, John Davis, William Dean Sherrow, Jarrett Neal and Clinton and Darrin Sullivan. Honorary bearers are Joyce Willoughby, Betty Conner, Mary Lou Butte, and Penny Lee. His family will receive friends from 10:00 AM on Monday until time of Service. The family suggest contributions be made in his memory to Thomson Hood Veterans Center. His family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Melissa Burchett.
