Ruby M. Lewis Reed

Nicholasville: Ruby Mae Lewis Reed, 86, of Melrose died Thurs., Jan. 24, at Royal Manor Nursing Home. A native of Jessamine County she was born July 17, 1921, to the late Walter H and Mary Belle Adams Lewis. She was the widow of Eugene R. Reed who died in 2000. Ruby was a homemaker and member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church. Survivors include her 2 sons Rev. Don Reed and Eugene ‘Randy’ Reed, Jr., grandchildren Donna Perkins and husband Jeremy Lee, Rev. Susan Reed, Matt Goldey, and Mary Goldey Carpenter, a great granddaughter Emma Grace Lucille Carpenter, a special niece Virginia Weddle in addition to several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and a brother. A special thanks to Royal Manor Nursing Home and their staff for the kind and compassionate care given to her during the time she was with them.

Services will be 1:00 PM Mon., Jan. 28, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Reed officiating, burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Philip Hurst, Burt Jones, Cliff Brown, Roger Garrison, Frank Hubbard, and Danny Carpenter. Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Sun., Jan. 27, at the funeral home.
