Ruth Raisch Lashbrook Mitchell, 101, the matriarch of her family, went to be with Jesus on Feb. 14, 2018.  She was a native of Ohio born Jan. 3, 1917, to the late Clarence and Goldie T. Raisch.  Ruth was the widow of Jack Lashbrook and J.R. Mitchell.  A dearly loved teacher, Ruth taught English at Asbury College from 1964 to 1982.  She was honored by the City of Wilmore and Mayor Harold Rainwater in 2017 for her 100th birthday with a presentation of a Key to the City of Wilmore and Plaque commending her longevity and the contribution she made to the community.  She leaves to cherish her memories sons James, wife Lena, John, Roger, wife Nancy, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Lashbrook, widow of Paul, as well as her 5 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her stepchildren Ruth and Norman Steele, Phil and Mildred Mitchell, Jerry and Jeannie Mitchell, and Vangie and Tom Armiger along with their children and grandchildren. Ruth was one of seven children and is survived by 2 sisters Eva Werth and Martha Dowson and is preceded in death by 3 brothers Ezra, David, and John Raisch, a sister Esther Yates and granddaughter Lisa.  A Remembrance Service will be held 11:00 AM March 3, 2017, at Wilmore Free Methodist Church, where the family will greet visitors on Sat. March 3, starting at 10:00 AM. She was laid to rest in Wilmore Cemetery beside her husband Jack prior to the service.   “Grief never ends…but it changes, it is a passage and is the price of love”.  Memorial gifts may be sent in Ruth’s name to the Wilmore Free Methodist Church’s Mission Fund at 1200 N.
