Sarah Thompson, 100, formerly of Wilmore, widow of J. Russell Thompson since 1986, entered into eternal rest at the Lexington Country Place Wednesday, Oct. 14. She was a native of Glasgow born Sept. 2, 1915, to the late Luther and Mary Elizabeth Franklin. Sarah was a lifelong member of Wilmore Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Deacon and an Elder. She was a graduate of Asbury College, a retired teacher having taught High School English in Jessamine and Woodford Counties. Her favorite pastime was watching sports on television. She enjoyed all sports and especially the Kentucky Wildcats never missing a game that was played. She leaves memories with her son Garland Thompson, wife Linda, grandchildren Kathy Hubbard and Rusty Thompson, wife Kelli, great grandchildren Morgan and Lindsey Hubbard, Sarah, Ben, and Molly Thompson, nieces Anna Louise Riester and Frances Reynolds Dean, nephews Bob Reynolds and Robert "Bob" Thompson as well as many other extended family members and students she taught. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Wilmore Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, Oct. 16, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in her memory to Wilmore Presbyterian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass. Sarah's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caring staff at Lafayette Place and Lexington Country Place for the care and compassion that was shown to her while she was a resident.
