Nicholasville: Sherman R. ‘Butch’ Peel, Jr., 57, of Lancaster, died Sat. July 24, at his home. He was a native of Jessamine County born July 6, 1953, to Edith Hall Peel and the late Sherman F. Peel, Sr.. He was a supervisor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and also a retiree of the Cabinet as well as a farmer. Butch loved animals and had many pets one of which was his special friend and companion, Molly, his Jack Russell. In addition to his Mother he is survived by his wife Lola Johnson Peel, children Sherman F. ‘Pete’ Peel, III, Mikki Peel Smith, husband Ricky, Travis Peel, wife Heather and Rachel Peel, 4 grandchildren Trevor and Hayleigh Peel, Austin Stoker, and Dalton Prichard, 2 sisters Susanne Morgan, husband Gary and Regina Kay Tanner. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Katelyn Stoker and brother in law Bruce Tanner.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wed., July 28, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Becknell officiating, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Sherman F. Peel III, Travis Peel, Ricky Smith, Robert Deeds, Steven Johnson, Wayne Bruner, Matt May, and Mark Phelps. Honorary Bearers will be Nathan Ridgeway, Ross Tanner, J. D. Jones, and Joe Shipley. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Tues., July 27, at the funeral home. Donations to Shriners Children Hospital may be made in his memory.
