Nicholasville: Sterling Canter, 85, died Thursday, July 28, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. He was a native of Jessamine County born Dec. 29, 1925, to Hazel Cook Canter Bruner and the late Elgin Canter. He was a retired employee of Brown Williamson Tobacco Company and member of Nicholasville Church of Christ. Sterling was a veteran of the US Air Force of which he was very proud. In addition to his Mother he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Norma McIntyre Canter, children William ‘Bill’ Denton McIntyre, wife Anita Lynne, Lexington and Bobby McIntyre, wife Carol, Nicholasville, a special nephew Mike Gill, wife Harriet, grandchildren Adam McIntyre, wife Sherri, Brian McIntyre, wife Melissa, Reese McIntyre, wife Ashley, Jake McIntyre, and Morgan McIntyre, step grandchildren Taylor Adams, Brogan and Houston Bird, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother W.F. ‘Fount’ Canter and sister Clossie Ann Neilson.

Services will be 1:00 PM Sat. July 30, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Brother Jordan Guy officiating. He will be laid to rest at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Adam, Brian, Jake, Bill, and Reese McIntyre, Mike Gill, and Norman Jennings. Honorary bearers will be Ernie Bain, Shirley Smith, Carl Morphew, Dean Lee, Glenmore Shearer, and Tom Buford. Visitation will be Fri.
