Nicholasville: Steve Allen Raines, 58, of Clear Creek Pike, died Tues., Aug. 5, at the home of his sister Jean Hager with whom he had lived with for several years. A native of Grundy, Virginia, he was born Sept. 8, 1949, to the late David Ferell and Verse May Deel Raines. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, loved gardening, fishing and the mountains where he was born. Survivors include his 3 sisters Jean R. Hager, Nicholasville, Charlene Kidd, Grundy, VA., and Juanita Shrout and husband Bill, Lexington, 2 brothers Emmitt Hall Raines, Lonnie Travis Raines and wife Judy, both of Grundy, VA., 4 nieces Debra Alice Hackney, husband Thomas, Robin Rene` Raines, Tracy Michelle Hargiss, and Teresa Lynn Raines, and a special friend Mayola Valencia.

Services will be 1:00 PM Fri., Aug. 8, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. James Hurd and Rev. John Rudd officiating, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brian Perkins, Buddy Springate, Michael Ripburger, Dave Abshear, Billy Shrout, Lucian Ashcraft, and Dave Williams. Honorary bearers will be Dillard Lunsford, Joe Chapman, Margaret Williamson, and John Lewis. Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Thurs., Aug. 7, at the funeral home.
